We’ve put together some handy tips to make your Southbound experience the best it can be!
WHAT TO BRING
Here’s a list of things you should bring:
- Your valid photo ID and camping tickets (refer festival info for details).
- Small 2-3 man tent (including a fly sheet).
- Sleeping bag.
- Hat, sunscreen.
- A beach towel and/or bath towel.
- Your board shorts, bathers or bikinis to shower in (many showers are communal) and to use down at the beach on Wednesday or Thursday morning.
- Warm clothing as it WILL get cold after dark.
- Wet weather gear (come prepared for all weather, remember though –no umbrellas, including small, fold-up umbrellas).
- Some comfy enclosed shoes.
- A torch (with charged batteries).
- Sealed, plastic water bottle – glass bottles are not permitted (please drink lots of water).
- Mosquito/fly repellent.
- Enough cash to get you through the festival.
- A padlock for your tent.
WHAT NOT TO BRING
Bring only your credit or key card that you will need for the weekend. Leave all valuables and unnecessary cards at home. Don’t leave personal effects and valuables inside your tent. Security personnel and Southbound camping staff will undertake regular patrols of the camping area, however Sunset Events will not be responsible for damaged, lost or stolen items. Report any suspicious behaviour to security or POD staff.
Pay special attention to the restrictions on fires and flammable items. Make sure you know what you can and cannot bring into the campground. See below for a list of restricted items.
Leave at home:
- Alcohol is not permitted in the campgrounds so please do not bring this with you. If alcohol is found in the campground, it will be confiscated and you will be evicted, without refund. If alcohol is found during search procedures at the festival gates, you will not be able to enter the event, and your ticket will be cancelled without refund.
- Fire / flammable items. Please note there is a total fire ban on the campgrounds as this runs the risk of endangering local farms and animals.
- Drums of any kind or sporting equipment are not permitted in the campground.
- Large tents.
- Any unsealed bottles.
- Glass vessels or containers.
- Crates and umbrellas (including small, fold-up umbrellas).
- Anything that may be used as a weapon.
- Animals (although guide dogs are permitted).
A General Store will be available for on-site basic supplies. There will also be a great range of food stalls available in Base Camp (which is open to campers prior to festival gates opening) and the festival arena.
Camping tickets are valid for either 2 or 3 days (depending on which you select) meaning there are no one-day camping tickets. All campers will not be able to leave the campground until 6am Friday 30th December 2016.
Alcohol is NOT permitted in the campground. If found during searches on entry, you will not be permitted to enter the event and your ticket will be cancelled without refund. If alcohol is found inside the campground, it will be confiscated and you will be evicted from the event without refund. Please don’t drink too much and be aware that you may still be over the limit the next day when you head home. Police are likely to be breathalysing after the festival so beware!
CAMP ALONGSIDE YOUR VEHICLE
We are pleased to announce that for the second year running, you will be able to camp next to your vehicle. Hooray! This means once again, vehicles ARE permitted in the campground. All vehicles, bags and camping equipment will be searched by our friendly staff before entering the campground.
If you are arriving by car, please follow the signs to the entry gates. Drinking alcohol in the carpark is an offence and may lead to action by the police. Upon arrival to the campground, all vehicles, bags, camping equipment will be searched by our friendly staff. Any prohibited items will be confiscated (and not returned).
Anyone intending to bring RVs (eg. Winnebagos, motor homes) and camper trailers must pre-purchase a large campsite camping upgrade. Anyone camping at the festival and bringing a standard 3 or 5-door car or station wagon, 4WD, campervan (eg. Kombi, Jucy Van, Wicked Camper) or panel van do not require a large vehicle upgrade pass.
There will be a separate large vehicle camping area, away from the tent zone. Caravans are not permitted. One large campsite camping upgrade ticket is required for every vehicle accessing the large campsite camping area and is valid for single entry only. RVs and camper trailers will need to be self-sufficient for power and water.
IMPORTANT! Due to space limitations, your camp setup has to be minimal. Space is strictly limited to a maximum space of 35.75sqm. This allows space for your vehicle and one 4-man tent or 2 x 2-man tents. All vehicles and bags will be searched by security before entering the campground.
Campsites are not powered.
LEAVING YOUR CAMPSITE EARLY
For safety reasons, once parked, vehicles in the campground cannot be moved until 6.00am on Friday, 30th December 2016. Please use the camper’s shuttle buses if you wish to leave the festival to go into Busselton on the Wednesday or Thursday morning. If you do need to leave before 6.00am on Friday, 30th December 2016, you will still be able to camp, but you won’t be able to camp next to your vehicle. You will need to leave your vehicle in the parking area, and walk into the campground as a Walk-In Camper.
RESPECT THY NEIGHBOUR
Please respect the site and your fellow campers. Any unruly behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in your removal from the site, without refund. Noise is not permitted in the campground between midnight and 7am. This is a designated quiet period for the benefit of fellow campers, and to keep our lovely neighbours happy. On top of this, be sure to look out for your friends and fellow campers!
In the event of an emergency, follow the directions of campground and security staff.
If at any time you feel your safety or anyone else’s safety is threatened, contact the nearest security guard or camping marshal. If you have a medical or security issue, or have any questions, please head to your nearest HELP POD. First aid facilities will be available.
Please help us keep the campsite clean and dispose of your rubbish in the recycling stations around the campsite. These will be clearly marked. You can also deposit your rubbish at the Help PODs for recycling. Please don’t drop your cigarette butts on the ground. Put them in the bins provided.
There will be shuttle buses for campers on Wednesday and Thursday mornings to take them into Busselton town, from 6.30am. The last bus will leave Busselton town at 2.00pm to return to the festival grounds. Fares apply.
